Georgia Promise Postcard Party, Saturday, 2:30 -4:30 pm
Location: 1676 Bass Road, Macon
Come volunteer and write postcards with us for Bibb, Houston and Peach county families as we raise awareness for the Georgia Promise Scholarship Program for families whose children are zoned for underperforming schools that qualify. This event is a form of community outreach to inform families about the scholarship which provides up to $6,500 annually for eligible students to use for private school tuition, tutoring, transportation and other educational expenses. By writing these postcards, you can help ensure eligible families are aware of the scholarship and can choose the best educational path for their children. Food is included.

How to Open a Charter School

This community meeting will discuss the steps for considering and opening a charter school. Case studies will include local schools such as Central Georgia Technical College Warner Robins' campus' Regional Healthcare High School, recipient of the Bloomberg Philanthropies grant and other state-wide charter school initiatives. Georgia Charter School Association will lead the discussion.

Learn how families in Georgia can take advantage of dual enrollment classes, pick the right courses and create a plan that fits your student's goals. Tips for neurodivergent learners will be discussed to help guide parents deciding between academic and career-based dual enrollment opportunities. The founder of Middle Georgia's first Dual Enrollment program designed specifically for middle school students will lead this discussion and teach you how to have this opportunity for your own child.

Zoe & Cookie: 60 Years After Desegregation, 12 minutes

Left Behind is a documentary that follows six determined mothers fighting within the New York City Public School system to open a free public school to give access to effective reading intervention to all children. From October 25- November 2, there is a free screening of the documentary on the documentary's Facebook page.
